Both on Trout Creek and the North Fork of the Shoshone River, several projects have been undertaken to restore and restructure the damaged riparian areas. These projects utilize organic materials as well as local rock to repair the banks. This method not only aesthetically enhances the banks but also improves hydrologic resiliency.

Working with the Absaroka Fence Initiative, TCR has modified or removed fencing to facilitate the movement of wildlife, particularly elk and deer. This initiative aims to reduce the number of human-caused wildlife deaths by making all fencing on TCR and surrounding public lands wildlife-friendly. Conifer trees, such as junipers, require a significant amount of water and can negatively impact the growth of native grasses in riparian areas. Additionally, the increased water demand from these trees can have detrimental effects on wildlife by reducing water availability in Trout Creek. Wyoming Game and Fish is collaborating with the Bureau of Land Management and U.S. Forest Service to guide teams on the optimal methods and locations for conifer management both within and beyond TCR's borders. TCR will commence selective thinning of these trees in the fall of 2024.

Purchased by TCR in 2001, the Morris Ranch had fallen into great disrepair. 27 tons of garbage and toxic chemicals were removed from the historic ranch to protect the North Fork of the Shoshone River and to restore lost history. TCR forgoes irrigation during low water times in Trout Creek to ensure enough water for fish- including the endangered Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout. TCR also invests in irrigation technology, such as CropX Sensors, with water conservation in mind. To date, the biggest project was the implementation of fish screens on all TCR's irrigation head gates. Great care is taken to preserve the ranch's natural springs and maintain water access for both wildlife and domestic livestock. TCR is geographically located on the largest migratory path for Mule deer and Elk in Northern America. This is considered by the ranch when managing domestic animal grazing and harvesting hay crops. TCR ensures ample feed is left for ungulates so decimation of the land does not occur due to overgrazing. Furthermore, TCR works closely with several universities and conservation minded groups to research and learn more ways to live in harmony with our wildlife.

Working closely with Wyoming Fish and Game, TCR introduced a family of beavers into Trout Creek. After the flooding in 2022, many beaver dams were destroyed. The dams created pools which are very important for the larger ecosystems. Moose, fish and deer just some on the few that benefit. Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout also utilize these pools to over winter.
